Mode, as translated from the Italian and French languages: Success, movement, fashion and modern … this was the owner’s design directive for this distinctly modern dwelling for the now well established young professional market in Bangkok. They are fashionable, modern, and rational on the outside; while playful and relaxed at heart. The design for Mode 61, named after the now very fashionable and vibrant Ekamai Soi 61, continues ours and the owner’s efforts to create a portfolio of unique and world class urban residential properties.

The design inspirations are disciplined by the universal elements of space and form. Negative | contemplative spaces are formed and visible both in plan and elevation. The courtyard design is clearly the heart of the concept. The site plot size and local laws dictated two low rise structures which created the courtyard planning concept. Lengthy design studies of the courtyard space were conducted perfecting the proportion, composition, sunlight and views and which offer the residents a very private, contemplative and recreational space removed from urban Bangkok. The Units are designed emphasizing the customer experience for optimization of space within market driven size. Full height sliding screens at the interior and at the courtyard balconies open up the interior unit space, extend the living areas to the balconies and provide privacy within the courtyard space. The well-proportioned façade compositional geometry is inspired by the 20th century modern Italian rationalist architects. The exterior façade cladding is a combination of pre-cast panels and gray tint laminate glass panels, and wood ‘stitching’ detailing.
